An isometric, squad-based RPG set in a post-apocalyptic, ice-cold Colorado. Expect lots of dialogue, tactical turn-based combat and a story that sees warring factions battle for control of the region. Its story is a direct sequel to 2014’s Wasteland 2.

The first-ever gameplay from inXile's upcoming party-based RPG Wasteland 3 was revealed today during Microsoft's big X019 Livestream. The video showcased the snowy environs of Colorado, where a team of Desert Rangers has gone in search of 1 of their own and also served up the release date of May 19.

Colorado may be a far cry from the desert terrain of the previous game, but the gameplay remains essentially the same: a celebration of six characters struggles to determine and maintain order during a world that's been shattered by nuclear war. It's an old-school sort of RPG, but the previous game was excellent and that I have high hopes for this one. you do not get to have played that one to dive into Wasteland 3, however, as InXile CEO Brian Fargo said during the show that the new game is entirely self-contained.

I'm a touch surprised that Microsoft would end its big show with Wasteland 3, which isn't exactly a typical Xbox game, but the trailer looks great and putting it up because the closer has got to be seen as an enormous vote of confidence from Microsoft. Wasteland 3 is out there for pre-purchase now on Steam.

Wasteland 3 Releasing Date

Wasteland 3 will be out on May 19, 2020. The original release window of 2019 was a bit too ambitious for inXile, which says that it's only able to hit a spring launch because it's been able to hire more staff thanks to supporting from new parent company Microsoft.

Wasteland 3 needed minimum Intel i5 CPU and 8GB of RAM with GPU GeForce GTX 760 or AMD Radeon HD 7970.
